There is something truly special about the Lake District. But for us, the beauty of Cumbria goes far beyond its landscapes. It's the place we grew up, the memories we've made as sisters, and the familiar places that have been part of our lives for as long as we can remember. Growing up here was something rather special. Days exploring the lakes, cycling past verges filled with daffodils and visiting the little places that make Cumbria so distinctive were simply part of childhood. We didnt necessarily realise at the time just how lucky we were to call this beautiful corner of the world home.
Looking back now, those memories mean even more to us. And in many ways, they're part of what inspired us to create The Little St Cloud Company and, more recently, our very first themed fragrance collection.
Growing Up in the Lake District
Before we were making candles and creating fragrances, we were two sisters growing up surrounded by the landscapes that continue to inspire our business today.
One of our childhood memories by Bassenthwaite Lake — growing up in Cumbria meant having places like this right on our doorstep.
From the shores of Bassenthwaite Lake to the familiar waters of Windermere, the Lake District was our playground. These weren't just beautiful places to visit on holiday; they were part of everyday life, woven into our childhood and the memories we share.
Lake Windermere has always been one of those familiar places that reminds us just how special home really is.
We have photographs of ourselves exploring these places as children, long before we ever imagined we'd be creating a business inspired by them. Looking at them now is a lovely reminder of how much our surroundings have shaped us, even in ways we may not have appreciated at the time.
